Advantages of Pre-Settlement Funding Over Traditional Bank Loans

Nonrecourse Funding

Unlike traditional bank loans, lawsuit loans are nonrecourse, which means that if the plaintiff loses the case, they are not obligated to repay the loan.

No Credit Checks

Pre-settlement loans do not require credit checks, making them more accessible to plaintiffs who may have less-than-perfect credit.

No Collateral Needed

Unlike traditional loans, lawsuit cash advances do not require collateral. The eventual settlement serves as security for the loan, reducing the risk for plaintiffs.

No Monthly Payments

With pre-settlement lawsuit loans, plaintiffs are not required to make monthly payments. The loan is typically paid back in a lump sum once the case has been settled or a judgment has been awarded.

Use Funds for Any Purpose

Lawsuit funding can be used for any purpose, including medical bills, living expenses, and other costs related to the case or personal needs.

Camp Lejeune Lawsuits: An Overview

Camp Lejeune has been at the center of numerous lawsuits due to contaminated water exposure that affected veterans, their family members, and survivors. The legal actions surrounding this issue have the potential to become one of the largest mass civil cases in history.

The contamination issue dates back to the period between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987, during which time residents and workers on the base were exposed to toxic water. The Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022 has made it easier for affected individuals to file lawsuits against the government for the harm they suffered due to water contamination at the base.

Under the new law, anyone who lived, worked, or was otherwise exposed to Camp Lejeune’s contaminated water for 30 days or more during the specified period may be eligible to file a lawsuit if they developed a serious medical condition as a result. The lawsuits aim to provide compensation for the victims of toxic water contamination.

The statute of limitations for filing a Camp Lejeune lawsuit is generally two years from the date of the enactment of the Camp Lejeune Justice Act, which was signed into law on August 10, 2022. If you believe you or a loved one may have been exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune and developed a medical condition as a result, you should contact an attorney (if you have not already done so) to discuss your legal options.
